Outside Speaking Experiences

Here’s how some of our members exercised their Toastmasters muscles by speaking to outside groups this month.

How about you? Share your experiences and what you’ve learned, in the Comments section of this post.

MARCH 2012

Stonly Baptiste delivered a product demonstration at the SuperCon tech conference.

Steve Naron has been teaching an Internet class to seniors.

Brent Spechler gave a TV interview to the Golf Channel at a Boys and Girls Club event.

William Thomas spoke at the Area 27 speech contest (possibly his best speech ever, according to Larry Benovitz, who also attended). He also gave an award at an American Red Cross event.

JANUARY and FEBRUARY 2012

Stonly Baptiste gave a presentation to a technology organization in Orlando.

Marlene Bryan spoke to the Hollywood Rotary Club about mentoring.

Mark Foxwell has been made an instructor at his company, which will require him to give group presentations.

Goran Jovanovic participated in a storytelling event at his church.

Heather Mahoney has been presenting training seminars as part of her image-consulting company. She also spoke about careers and resume writing to Coral Springs High School, and spoke at another Toastmasters club where she was visiting.

William Thomas spoke to a group of college students about the benefits of joining Toastmasters. He also spoke about domestic violence to a youth group, and presented an award to a committee member in another organization he’s in.

Moses Wright delivered his “Outside Chances” speech at another group and says he learned the value of using visual aids to help the audience retain more of what they hear.
